Recently, the third annual Gallup-Palmer College of Chiropractic survey of American adults regarding pain management was released. This year the survey focused on the pain epidemic regarding neck and back pain.  The survey was conducted in February - March 2017 with 6,305 adults 18 years and older participating. Here are some interesting takeaways:

  • The majority of Americans experience pain: 63% of adults have experienced neck or back pain in their lifetime, with 27% seeking professional care in the past year.
  • Most do not want to take pain medications: 78% would “prefer to try other ways to address the pain” before using prescription pain medications.
  • They consider chiropractic safe and more effective than pain medications: 81% believe chiropractic can help either a great deal or be of some help with neck and back pain.
  • Over the counter drugs are still used: while not wanting to use prescription medications, 80% of adults will use OTC drugs as their first option.

Chiropractic is uniquely positioned to effectively treat and care for patients with musculo-skeletal problems.  There are still many who do not know or understand the benefits and advantages of chiropractic care. If you or someone you know suffers from back or neck pain, please contact our office at 919-790-2288.

We certainly appreciate all our patients who have spread the word about chiropractic and our office.  Thank you!
